The Republican Party emerged in 1854 to combat the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which would have spread slavery into it’s territories. This would have repealed the prohibition on slavery in territory north of 36° 30′ latitude, which had been part of the Missouri Compromise.

Tea Party Racism Still In Full Swing
|At an Ozark Tea Party Rally in Mountain Home, Arkansas, the crowd gave a warm reception to an “icebreaker” joke (hinted with a dash of racism) given by Tea Party Board member Inge Marler. AZ GOP Spokesman Slams Women Having a ‘Bitch Session’
The top spokesman for the Arizona Republican Party, Shane Wikfors, didn’t like a column published recently in the state’s largest newspaper. So on Monday he blasted the columnist and another women for having a “bitch session”.
While he never called any woman a bitch, his choice of words were not the best.
Lawmaker Barred After Vagina Comment
Michigan House Republicans prohibited state Rep. Lisa Brown (D) from speaking on the floor after she ended a speech against a bill restricting abortions by referencing her female anatomy, the Detroit News reports.
Her comment, which is on video: “Finally, Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you’re all so interested in my vagina, but ‘no’ means ‘no.'”
Republicans said Brown was “offensive” and wouldn’t allow her to voice her opinion on an unrelated school employee retirement bill.
Responded Brown: “If I can’t say the word vagina, why are we legislating vaginas? What language should I use?”
